After last year’s fall trip to West Virginia, I decided the best leaves were from New England. Couple months before, I booked the trip, White Mountain it is for 2023.

又到秋天看红叶的季节了。红叶还是要到北边看，几个月前我就订好了，今年目的地-新罕布什尔州的白山。

Oct 6, 2023 Arriving in Boston

Instead of driving for 10 hours each way, we agreed on flying this year and rent a car. The trip to the north did seem a lot easier for our older bodies. ☺️

今年没自己开车，飞到波士顿，租车北上，这样回来回家前可以和老二见一面。

After getting our car, we headed north and began to look for a place to stay. This was the only night that I didn’t book any hotels because I didn’t know how far we were up for the driving. Erik searched and there were not many availabilities. He called this place which didn’t have any website or anything and we got to stay for a night!

租了车，一边往北开一边找住宿，就这一晚没预定，因为不知道要开到哪儿，不过这周不好订。老艾搜了半天都满了，有一家没有网站，他打了电话过去，好像有希望，我们就开过去了。

It was definitely not anything fancy. The owner even asked us to check the room before making decision to stay. Oh well, I have stayed in worse places, plus I was mentally prepared. I was just grateful that we had shelter for the night. Be grateful 🙏

老艾提前给我打好预防针，没网站意味着条件可能不好，我说没关系，有住的就不错了。真的赞我们的心态👍。到了以后，老板让我们先看看房间再决定，呵呵，我想能有多不好啊，还怕我们接受不了。一开门，哇，不错啊，不是我住过的最差的，当场卸车！$100一晚，但我们还是很感恩有地儿住☺️。

Erik told me some people didn’t have enough money and just stay here as their home…Who am I that God chose to bless with abundance. Isn’t this alone enough to be grateful for everything? We had a good night of sleep.

Oct 7, 2023 North Conway, NH

We drove an hour and half to North Conway and had lunch at Muddy Moose Restaurant and Pub. Ribs and Hamburger. They were really good flavors, just not very hot.

觉睡的还不错。一早起来继续北开，来到北康威，先吃个午饭：猪排、汉堡。

由于下雨，计划有变，我们一下午就在北康威了。

It was a rainy day today. So we changed our plan a little which gave us more time to stay around North Conway. We walked around Echo Lake, Cathedral Ledge, Diana’s Bath state park, and looked around Zeb’s store.

We got rained on while hiking, but it wasn’t cold and we both still enjoyed the time together.

去了Echo湖，围湖走了一圈，被雨淋，但不冷，又有雨衣，所以我们还是很高兴。去了网红店Zeb’s。我们从来不需要买什么，所以逛一圈儿就出来了。又到一个山顶，看到我们绕了一圈儿的湖。最后去了黛安娜池，风景还是很美的。

Today was just a little teaser. While driving north more to Gorham, after entering White Mountain park, the views were stunning. I cannot wait for the next several days!

从北康威出发，继续北上，进入白山公园。满眼的山和满眼的五颜六色，因为下小雨，到处雾蒙蒙的。拍不了照片，我就一心一意的沉浸在调色板中。太爱秋天了，期待接下来的旅行！

Oct 8, 2023 Dixville Notch

Nothing is better than a day starting with a Chinese buffet, which was next door to our 🏨 $17 per person and the food was very good. Especially the ice cream, many buckets of different flavors. We didn’t have to feel guilty to eat today, because we were going hiking. That’s right! Waitresses were nice, and even nicer after they realized Erik could speak Chinese. Hmm…should we come back tomorrow? 😍

住的地儿旁边就是中餐自助餐😋，怎么能不去？今天安排不多，老艾坚持要睡懒觉。好吧，起来洗漱完就午餐时间了，走过去饱饱吃一顿。17美金一位，菜还可以，服务员很热情，看见会说中文的老外更是格外亲切。炸大虾仁很赞👍，冰激淋更好吃，想起要去徒步，不小心吃了三个大冰激淋球☺️

We didn’t have a lot planned today, but to hike the Table Rock Trail. About 1.5 miles and 770ft elevation. It was really muddy and slippery after the rain yesterday. I so regretted that I didn’t bring my hiking boots, why why why…well, actually, the reason was Erik always wore his tennis shoes and I copied him. It was his fault for sure.

After straight up for little than a mile, we reached the top. It had huge rocks, very narrow to walk on. I was scared. But the view was stunning all around. The weather was perfect when we were up there, sunny and no wind.

开车向北1个多小时到今天徒步的地儿。 一开始就要爬，250米左右，刚下了雨，路很泥泞。穿小白鞋上去下来的全全小黑鞋。山顶风景美丽！

It was about an hour drive there and back. Every moment of driving was so enjoyable. Fall is everywhere. Not sure why I love it so much!

来去两边全是连绵不断的、五颜六色的山，加上时而出现眼前，时而消失的小溪，开得再久也不觉得乏味，总觉得看不够。爱上了秋色！

Oct 9, 2023 Mt Washington

Hahaha…we did start the day with a Chinese buffet again, but, a different buffet. Given how small the town is, there are two Chinese buffet across the street from each other. The food is not super authentic, however , $17 per person, we enjoyed the variety and flavor. I hope both of them will do well in Gorham.

又吃自助餐啦，不过去了对过的一家。这么小的一个地方，竟然两家中餐自助，还是斜对过。这家价钱一样，连品种都很类似，听说是新开的。虽然每个菜都美化了很多，但17美金，品种多，我们还是吃的很高兴😊。

Today’s key activity is to drive up to Mt Washington. After the yummy buffet, we headed up. It was very beautiful drive. Erik’s driving was so smooth and I didn’t feel scared at all.

今天开车上华盛顿山，快2000米。山上好冷，排了很久才和这个牌子照张相😂。老艾很耐心，陪着我等着，虽然他自己没兴趣，他就是很宠我，要啥给啥那种😍。

We lined up in the freezing cold for a long time to take a picture with this sign! Credit to Erik’s patience with me wanting it. :)

I was in love with icy grass. They are so pretty!山上风景很壮观，四面全是一眼望不尽的山脉。

After Mt Washington, Erik wanted to stop by the airport. We saw several gliders in the sky. He was admiring someone’s glider. The next thing you know there was a guy came to him and recruited him to help set up to fly. Erik helped him to get the glider ready on the runway, get him all buckled well in the glider, and finally put the canopy over. Erik was helpful wherever he went. It was the first time I saw a plane pulled a glider up. Fun experience.

下了山，老艾要去机场看有没有滑翔机。山顶陪我这么久照相，这个要求怎能不答应。哇，确实很多滑翔机。我在车里等他，一转眼发现人找不到了，仔细找才发现被一个叫去帮忙了。老艾帮人家用高尔夫车把滑翔机拉到跑道上，帮人家穿跳伞，系安全带，最后扣上机盖。准备好以后，另一个小飞机就把这架滑翔机拖上天啦！好酷，都没见过，老外很会玩儿…老艾能帮上忙，他也很高兴。

Oct 10, 2023 Franconia park

It rained in the morning, so we adjusted our schedule to eat first and wait for the rain to go away. After two days of Chinese food, we needed to have American food to balance it out. Hamburgers, fried onion rings and sweet potato waffles.

早上下雨，那就先吃饭。两天的中餐，该汉堡了☺️

Instead of going to Artist’s Bluff first, we went to Flume Gorge after lunch. I was so happy that we were able to change our plans around. I bought the tickets to Flume Gorge a month ago for a 2pm entry time, thinking that it was ok after going to Artist’ Bluff. After lunch, we rested in the car for about half an hour until the rain stopped, and it was close to 2pm!!! If I bought the tickets for an earlier time, we would have to hike in the rain. I don’t believe it was me who could time all these so perfectly, but I believe that I am always blessed by the one above. I am grateful.

吃了午饭，在车里休息了半小时，雨就停了。我们开始一天的徒步。这次忘记了带自拍杆，全是大头照，除非有路人帮忙。本来看好了景，老艾大脑袋一进镜头，景色全无😜

It was still cloudy after the rain. The leaves were all washed clean. Too bad that the camera couldn’t capture the colors as well as they actually were. Time for new phones with better camera? That was absolutely the solution Erik proposed.

Oct 11, 2023 Kancamagus Scenic Byway

We planned to have Mexican today before we started our tour, but google Lied to us. The restaurant closed the whole day. Oh well…I guess we could start our day hungry, and our bodies would burn fat. Sure!

本想早上吃墨西哥餐，然后出发。然而这家店周三不开，咋不在谷歌上说清楚，唉…那就饿着吧。

Kancamagus drive is 34.5 miles with stops. It took us 5 hours. We stopped by overlooks, and we hiked two trails to two waterfalls. The Champney Falls trail was little over 3 miles with 700ft elevation. It seemed a lot longer than that though. But the view on top of the falls was amazing(P6)! We were tired today.

今天开一条风景路线，总长56公里，路上两边有停的地儿下车看风景。这条路不愧是风景线，从头至尾周边全是五颜六色的山和树。我们走走停停，还徒步两次，花了5个小时，累了。

Both of us fasted the whole day. we had Thai for dinner: crispy duck and chicken curry.

饿了一天，晚饭泰餐，脆皮鸭和泰咖喱鸡，还行吧，反正饿了…

Oct 12, 2023 Meeting Valerie

Before heading home, we met Valerie and had hotpot for lunch! Glad to see her doing well.

去机场之前，和老二见了面，她想吃火锅了：）孩子们都觉得吃中餐像回家。这家快乐小羊还不错，$25一位自助。火锅底料没什么味道，哈哈哈，像家里的😜

Places we stayed during the trip. No fancy hotels, but they were still pricy in my opinion. It is time for me to accept a new price range for travel.

It was a bumpy flight, but very nice landing view.

It was such a relaxing trip with beautiful sceneries. I am so grateful that God blessed us with another safe trip. Until the next one…
